The first French hotel of German budget design group Motel One is to be built in the south-east of Paris by 2018. It will have 255 rooms and meet high sustainability standards. Drees & Sommer is undertaking project controlling for the construction project. Under the terms of a framework agreement, Drees & Sommer will provide technical support to Motel One during the implementation of projects with contracts already signed in France, Italy and Poland.
The new building in Paris continues the expansion of the hotel group, which already operates in six European countries. The eight-story building will have a floor area of 6,300 square meters, and feature a lobby, bar, and lounge area. Glazed areas will ensure that the reception and lounge areas are flooded with natural light. The facade will comprise alternating slightly inclined metal panels and windows. The South Terrace of the hotel offers a view of the adjoining hotel garden. The courtyard offers guests a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city.
The new motel is being built next to the Palais de la Porte Dorée exhibition center in the immediate vicinity of the Paris ring road. Construction work began on January 4, 2016, with the hotel scheduled to open in 2018. Motel One is building the hotel to international sustainability standards and seeking BREEAM certification. Features including high energy efficiency, provision for landscape architecture, and energy-saving kitchens and office equipment should ensure award of the rating ‘Very Good’.
