Smart Building Envelopes can be Designed to Interact with Occupants to Improve Comfort: Abdul Majid Karanouh

Abdul Majid Karanouh, Head of Interdisciplinary Design & Research at Drees & Sommer Middle East joined the company in January 2019.

Currently, he leads a team of professional architects and engineers and spearheads the interdisciplinary design and research department in the Middle East. Karanouh has worked on some of the world’s most innovative and complex façade designs. He spoke with Windows & Facades, a niche publication in the Middle East about how the pandemic has affected the real estate industry, innovations in the façade & cladding technologies. In this article, Karanouh revisits some notable projects from his previous work-life experiences like the Turning Torso in Malmo, Sweden, Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE and the Barajas Airport in Madrid, Spain. Karanouh is currently leading some remarkable projects for Drees & Sommer across the GCC region, still in early stages and under confidentiality agreements which we look forward to sharing with you upon launch.
